Teen – LEAD

WHAT IS FRANCISCAN LEAD?

Franciscan LEAD is a five-day, Christ-centered, sacrament-soaked, prayer-fueled immersion in Catholic teachings on leadership, evangelization, and discipleship inspired by the life and witness of St. Francis of Assisi. Our leadership philosophy is based on the foundation that leadership flows from a personal relationship with Christ. Therefore, we first give teens the tools to grow closer in their relationship with Jesus and then give them the essentials for leadership and evangelization.

WHEN?

The week before each Youth Conference; beginning Monday and ending Friday afternoon when the participant will join their group for the weekend youth conference.

WHO?

Youth can apply for Franciscan LEAD for the summer after their freshman year in high school through the summer after their junior year in high school. We are looking for youth who…
…Love Jesus and His Church.
…Are ready to take their Catholic faith to the next level.
…Want to learn how to share their love of Christ with friends and classmates.
…Want to go deeper in prayer.
…Want to inspire others to answer Christ’s radical call to love and serve.

COST?

The cost of $375.00 includes training in discipleship and evangelization, resource book, official Franciscan LEAD t-shirt, and lodging/meals for the participant for the duration of the program. This cost does not include the registration fee for the conference weekend.

HOW?

The application for Franciscan LEAD is exclusively online. The step by step process and link to the application is detailed at www.steubenvilleconferences.com/lead. The first part of the application is completed by the teen. After they complete this portion online, an email is automatically sent to their referral person with a link to the online referral. Make sure your teen has the needed information listed on the “How to Apply?” link on the website before beginning the application process.

There is no limit to the number of teens that may apply from each group, though we recommend sending applications for 3-4 from each parish/youth group, with at least one youth from each gender. The first round of Franciscan LEAD acceptance emails will be sent on Friday, April 3, 2015. To be considered in this first round, both the youth’s application and your referral form must be submitted by Monday, March 30, 2015. If they are not accepted for Franciscan LEAD this year or if they are placed on the waitlist, they will receive notification on April 3rd as well. After March 30th, if there are still spots available at the Franciscan LEAD location they have applied for, applications will continue to be reviewed and accepted on a first-come first-serve basis. Please note that some locations will fill up sooner than others. Please feel free to contact us to learn whether there are spots available at the site for which you would like to apply.

“I was excited to send my teens on Franciscan LEAD but I never expected the impact it would have on my entire youth group. I was advised that it was better to send multiple students from my youth group on LEAD the same year because they would have accountability and a small community when they came home. It has been beautiful to watch how they have supported each other post-retreat and pushed each other on toward holiness. Not only are they sharing and holding each other accountable, they are always looking for opportunities to serve within the youth group. Whether it’s helping younger students at retreats or taking the job nobody wants, they are always the first the volunteer. LEAD has brought them together and equipped them to lead their peers with a servant’s heart. I will definitely be sending more students each year because it was a life changing event both in their own hearts and has positively affected the entire youth group as well.” Rachel Poyo, Youth Minister Testimonial
